Tribal Council

The voices that guide our nation

Our Leadership

The Tawacomen Tribe is guided by a council of citizens committed to protecting the rights, history, and identity of Native descendants whose lines were scattered, erased, or denied enrollment. Our council operates independently of U.S. government oversight and follows the founding vision of creating a home for those turned away from their ancestors' nations.

Chief

Larry Bounds-Warren currently serves as Chief of the Tawacomen Tribe, following the transition of leadership from founding Chief Mekhowanen Pemachis. He works directly with citizens, applicants, and outside communities to maintain respectful relations. He helps guide the Tribe's enrollment efforts, cultural mission, and non-blood-quantum policy for those seeking to reconnect with their Native ancestry.

Chief Emeritus & Founder

Mekhowanen Pemachis was the founding Chief of the Tawacomen Tribe and now serves in an emeritus role. He hails from the Patawomeck people, verified through Patawomeck Tribal Historian Bill Deyo and genealogist Crystal T. Davis. He established the Tawacomen Tribe to provide a place for Native Americans who could not register with their ancestral tribes due to lost records, erasure, or generational breaks in enrollment.

Join Our Nation

The Tawacomen Tribe is built by its citizens. Enrollment is free, and membership means belonging to something larger than any single broken chain.
