◆ Become Part of the Tawacomen Tribe
The Tawacomen Tribe stands as a sovereign Indigenous community that does not seek federal recognition. Our legitimacy flows from our people and our heritage — not from colonial approval.
- No Blood Quantum Requirement — We reject colonial systems that measure identity by fractions. Native ancestry is not a fraction.
- Proof of Native Ancestry Required — Verification may include DNA confirmation or genealogical documentation showing Native heritage.
- No Fees or Dues — The Tawacomen Tribe is not a pay-to-play organization. Our purpose is cultural preservation, truth, and connection — not profit.
Our enrollment team reviews documentation using the same standards and best practices employed by recognized tribal enrollment offices — including vital records, family trees, historical records, and, where applicable, DNA evidence.
We recognize that many Indigenous descendants were separated from their heritage through erasure, displacement, and forced assimilation. Even if your lineage is distant or partially undocumented, you are welcome to apply. Our verification process honors both ancestral records and modern DNA evidence as valid proof of heritage.
